(conclusion)Day 15 – LUCKY BAYFORT
Today would be my last full day in Japan, and we decided to take things easy and just take in some of the sights of Yokohama.
I don’t remember exactly how, but somehow or another we had found out about a hobby shop that was fairly close to where we were staying in Yokohama. So, after having some lunch at a Ramen restaurant, we headed over to a shop called Lucky Bayfort. It took a little bit of looking, but we finally found the building that Lucky Bayfort was located in, there is an AM/PM Market on the first floor, and Lucky Bayfort is located on 4F. Not too surprisingly, Lucky Bayfort turned out to be a fairly large and well stocked all-around hobby shop. They had everything from Anime & Manga figures to plastic models of all sorts, as well as electric trains and plenty of minicars. Unfortunately by this time I had already bought a lot of cars and my luggage was already bulging with souvenirs. It’s a good thing that I don’t collect models, because I could have walked out of here with an armload. I did however find a Tomica book to add to my collection (see New Stuff below).
Upon exiting the building were Lucky Bayfort was located, we were greeted by this Toyota Soarer that was parked out front.
From here, we took a long walking tour of the city and marveled at some of the old western influenced architecture. We finally made it over to Akarenga, a shopping district located in some old brick warehouses on the waterfront of Yokohama Harbor. These buildings were once used as a customs facility. After spending some time here we took a bus up to Minato-no-Mieru Oka Koen (Harbor View Park) for a fantastic view of the Yokohama Bay Bridge, we strolled through the rose garden that is frequented by dozens of feral cats, and then we took a short walk over to the neighborhood of Yamate Bluff. This neighborhood is famous for it’s old western style homes, and while we were here we stopped at a cafe, for something to dink & eat. By this time it was getting late in the afternoon and it was time for us to grab another bus and head back home.
Tomorrow would be my last day here, so it was time to pack-up all my belongings and souvenirs. Below is a view of the apartment that Agent Y and I called home for my 2 week stay. Even though it was a small place, I was sure going to miss it.
